Welcome to The Department of Fisheries, University of Dhaka

The Department of Fisheries, established in 1997, is one of the prominent fisheries education and research institutions under University of Dhaka which is the first, leading and number one graded university in Bangladesh. The department offers four-year Bachelor of Science, one-year Master of Science (in three streams), MPhil and PhD programmeto produce high-quality human resource who will lead the fisheries sector of the world. Seven highly equipped specialized cutting edge research laboratory of the department is under operation for uplifting the fisheries industry of the country.In addition, the department advocated collaborative approach with national and international organizations to accelerate the research, field work and training activities.At present 23 highly qualified and fabled faculty members are enlightening nearly 200 students through state-of-the-art teaching and research activities. The department facilitate these activities through its two premises (Professor Mohammed Shafi Fisheries Building and eastern part of the main Curzon Hall) in the Curzon Hall area of the University of Dhaka. More than 400 high quality descent alumni of these department serve in numerous institutions.
