Aquaculture Genomics Laboratory
Aquaculture genomics laboratory of the Department of Fisheries is situated at the ground floor of the Professor Muhammed Shaf fisheries building. The laboratory is equipped with DNA/RNA extraction facilities, tissue homogenizer, PCR machine, Gel electrophoresis, Gel documentation system, Fluorometer (Qubit 2.0), Centrifuge, micropipettes, electric balance, vortex machine, Laminar flow cabinet, refrigerator, freezer and working station for 3-5 students.

- Whole genome sequencing of commercial fishes of Bangladesh
- Development of therapeutic agents against aquatic pathogens
- Modulation of barrier functions by PAMPs and pathogens
- Gene expression, innate and adaptive immunity in fish
- Antiviral and antibacterial immunity in fish
- Proteomics and Phosphoproteomics of economically important fishes
Current projects
- Whole Genome sequencing and genome annotation of stinging catfish Heteropneustesfossilis funded by Centennial Research Grant (CRG), University of Dhaka for the fiscal year 2020-2021.
- Development of probiotics for increased production of stinging catfish Heteropneustesfossilis, funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology for the fiscal year 2020-2021.
