The Fish Nutrition and Quality Control laboratory (FNQCL) is located in 1st floor of the eastern side of the Curzon Hall. The FNQCL encompasses diverse aspects of fish nutrition comprising development of cost-effective and nutrient enriched aqua-feed as well as the evaluation of the feedstuffs for modern fish culture. The laboratory is highly equipped with state-of-the-art machineries, which include Oven (BINDER D-78532), Muffle furnace (LINDBERG/BLUE M), Soxhlet apparatus (SOXTEST SX-6) and, Kjeldahl digestion and distillation unit (VELP SCIENTIFIC DK-6), to assess the nutritional quality especially proximate composition of processed/ preserved fish, fish feeds and, fisheries products and by-products. In addition, the FNQCL facilitate to study the environmental consequences of formulated feeds in different fish rearing arrangement particularly in recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). Besides, fish shelf life extension in methods with improvement of techniques is expedited by the laboratory. The goal of FNQCL is to boost sustainability and production efficiency in aquaculture by enhancing quality of the final yields.
